History of ISRO:
Formed in 1969, Founder of the Indian Space program by Dr. Vikram Sarabhai -father of the Indian space program. ISRO replaced its predecessor, the Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR).
Key Milestones in Development:
1975: Launched its first satellite, Aryabhata, named after the ancient Indian mathematician and astronomer.
1980: Successfully launched Rohini-1 using its indigenous SLV-3 rocket.
